2006 C230 with P0015 code
 
Hello all!! I have a C230 with a P0015 code. The code definition I have is Exhaust B camshaft timing over-retarded Bank 1. Has anyone ran into this issue before and what was the fix? Thanks in advance!!

Mel, common issue.

Replace the camshaft solenoid on the passenger side exhaust cam.

Part number 272-051-01-77. $27 list

Does this code and solution apply to a '06 C280 4Matic??

Does the same solution for a P0015 code on a 2006 C280?:)

Yes. All of the early cars with a 272 engine have that problem.

Is the solenoid what some folks are referring to as the "magnets". I had replaced the sensors and the problem did not correct.

Yes. The little pigtail wiring harnesses are also a know fault that plugs into the magnets. The dealer has an open campaign going right now. They should replace them free of charge.
