All the advice you are getting here reflects my experiences as well. I'm the owner with the current engine electronics gremlin. On your list of work done, the LH control unit that was replaced is part of the electronic engine management, and the rear axle speed sensor is related. I'm not a mechanic. My car has been in and out of the shop trying to fix this problem since November. Spent about 3k on that so far. Before that happened, I was using it as a daily driver.

The other thing I would check, if you buy the car, is the driveshaft flex discs. Regarding the new trans and diff, leaking seals might have been caused by driveshaft vibration. I'd suspect the flex discs and I would look real close for evidence of front end or rear end body damage.

Good luck!

Glen, look for an email from me and thanks for your help!

Mark,

Thank you for the experienced input, I'm getting the impression that everything done to this car seems to be normal. Your statement about damage to the front or rear is a good point. In the carfax report no accidents were reported however the owner did purchase a new grill and chrome surround so I know I need to check the front. This happened at the same time the radiator was changed which makes me think something hit the car. I think I'll have to test drive and see the car to insure no serious accidents have occurred. Anyways I hope you get your problems resolved, I know its tough having this surreal car and not be able to drive it.

Let us know what you're willing to spend, and the condition/ mileage you'd like and we can keep our eyes peeled for you.

Also let us know how serious of a buyer you are (aka- you got cash money?)

I know of a as-new Porsche dealership owner upgraded to E55, 1-owner '94 Pearl Black/ Black less than 50K miles Starmark, 18" AMG, Michelin Pilots, for $48K in Los Angeles, CA.

fad,

Thanks for the reply! I am definitely a serious buyer but my budget is $28K. I have seen a few low mileage examples out there including the one you mentioned but the asking price is to high.

As far as condition goes, I would like to find a car with a good condition original paint (No major accidents). My preference is a one or two owner car that has remained stock with a good repair history and below 85K miles. The compression needs to check out ok and tranny and differential needs to be in good shape also. I understand the cars are used and some problems will exist but I don't want to get a car that needs major work.

A Starmarked car is the pie in the sky. Let me know what you find out there. I appreciate that there are other MB lovers out there that are wiilling to help others acheive there goals. Thanks everyone.
