300E Injection Metering (Megasquirt?)

I've got a 3.0L engine in my 1991 and I'm interested in how the injection system works. I'm thinking that since the injection is mechanical, the injectors only open and close once in each injection period and don't pulse like some electronic ones do. If the injection pressure stays constant, I'm assuming that the shortest period would be when stopped at idle with the engine warm, and the longest period would be at max RPM under full load with the engine cold (not that I'd do that!) Does anybody know about how much fuel would be delivered by an injector in those two conditions, assuming the engine is otherwise in good condition? Also, does the pump shut off when decelerating? (It would save gas and pad lining.) If I wanted to implement pulsed injection and fuel shut off, would Megasquirt do it? What fuel rail, pump, injectors, etc. should I use? I figure I could connect the controller to a throttle position sensor and the brake light switch. When the throttle was fully closed and the brake light switch was on, the fuel would cut off. Since the brake light switch activates before the brakes do, I could cut off just the fuel or brake at the same time. I'd be worried about the engine braking being too much in rain or snow or interfering with the ABS system. Also, would pulsed injection have any advantages in the M103?

Thanks for looking!

You'll need to check with fellow member tjts1, I know he did a megasquirt conversion on 2.6.

If you visit the "Performance Paddock" there are some very sharp injection guys who hang out there.

Thanks. I'll repost this over there.

In CIS the injector is just a fancy mister nozzle. The fuel is metered by the fuel distributor, continuously. The system already has a deceleration fuel cut, over about 20-25 mph with the throttle closed. The electronic control of the fuel distributor handles decel fuel cut as well as enrichment. I don't have specific flow rates, but the 3.0 CIS fuel distributor can flow enough fuel for +-300 HP. Takes a lot more air than the stock engine can flow to max it out. 9lbs of boost gets pretty close though.
