1991 Mercedes 300SE - Motor Mounts
I replaced the driver and passenger mounts (both Uro parts). I did not replace the trans mount. 6 months later, The Passenger Mount was flat and torn a little bit (Pictures). I just today replaced the Passenger Mount with a Mercedes OE Mount($130). Also I replaced the Transmission Mount(Uro, $60). The driver mount is Uro and seems ok. After installing the Passenger mount(OE), I lowered the engine. The new passenger mount(OE) is sagging down just the same as the driver mount(Uro). I would think it would hold better. Here is a video showing the engine being lowered onto the mount along with some music: Youtube-Motor Mount

I hope the folks who would offer Uro brand mounts through Peach Parts/Pelican Parts take note.

I installed a Meyle 'HD' on the pass side of my 300SEL last fall... it lasted less than a week. Seriously. That is with the heatshield for that mount too.
I just slapped a Uro in place on that side as I needed a mount in a pinch. Comes with a one year warranty, so if it dies in six months I will just replace it I suppose.

Yeah I drove the car took some hard left turns and didnt hear or feel any vibrations from exhaust hitting the frame so i guess its holding. I also have a 1yr warranty from the German Mechanic who sold them to me. The Mercedes Mount is stronger than the Uro one. but not by much: Uro vs MercOE Passenger Mount - YouTube

I still haven't learned my lesson with cheap parts.
If you don't plan on keeping your car for another 5 years or so, then the some cheap parts are maybe OK. I have a 1991 300CE. I changed motor mounts at 135m, 12/2005. These were ORIGINAL to the car! Fourteen years of service and 135,000 miles! I used non OEM part and recently replaced them again. Cheap parts = only 40,000 miles and 6 years of service. Changed the ORIGINAL fan bracket at 144,000 4/2007. Sitting here doing it again at 180,000 just 5 years later. The original bracket lasted 16 years! Back then, dealer did not have rebuilt fan brackets but now they do. For my car it was about $155 with $15 core charge. |

Another reason stay away from URO junk parts for ANYTHING that is semi-critical.
Over and over again have we all experienced reading about a lack of longevity, or plain poor manufacturing from many of its users. Its Chinese -- you get what you pay for.
