Wheel Alignment issue/question

I brought in my car to get a 4 wheel alignment.

The shop could not adjust the front wheels to specs because the adjustments were already "maxed". The car has not been in a wreck (i believe) so I don't know what is going on.

Any thoughts?

My shop said the same thing and said it was because of sagging old springs (1991 300CE, 170m)

I have no spatial comprehension of what is involved with alignment but others here have commented that "sagging springs would cause X and alignment depends on Y" so they did not see any connection.

I went ahead and installed new springs (a real physical workout), got an alignment and all is fine.

LCA bushings might be shot.

How did they propose to fix the situation?

Who was doing the alignment?

If it wasn't a MB specialist /dealer you might find that they need to RTFM... I'm sure this isn't always the case but for some of them there new fangled laser guided more expensive than the space shuttle machines they need to "sweep" the wheels (what ever that means - I haven't a clue what it means I just picked it up from some guy on the forum some time ago - I'll try and dig out the post)

Ben, recommend having your local MB dealer perform the alignment. Their techs will have the knowledge and equipment to do the job properly.

If your automobile needs some parts replaced their techs tell you beforehand. Then you can decide if the repair work is DIY, a dealer-only job, or one for your favorite indy.
