1987 300 td estate

Is it normal for this vehicle to start from a dead stop in second gear?
Next question when adjusting the alda (either via shims or set screw) to increase boost I seek a bit more get up to freeway speeds in a more brief interval, car is young only 165,000 miles but slightly slower than my LT_1 powered Volvo 740 wagon that burned rubber all the way up the ramp.
fuel economy was less than exemplary. Thanks lads for your input, retired too poor to EVER visit dealer for work. Bill

Welcome aboard Bill.

You will find alot of answers in diesel discussion. Some folks have removed the internals from the ALDA to get more performance and it does work.

Yes.

"Next question"? You didn't pose a next question.

The one we owned for 13 years started in first.
I'm certain of it, because I also owned an 87 300E that started in second....
