Wife killed the wiper motor this moring *$#^$
So you can probably guess the scenario. Ice this morning in NC. Wife went out to defrost the car. It is sketchy here but one way or the other, the wiper was turned on and didn't move and for unknown reason to anyone, was not turned off!!!!!!
So is my likely situation that the wiper motor is burned up or is there some kind of relay or fuse I should check first? It's a 95 E320 wagon (front wiper of course). I have a parts car so I suspect this won't be a big cost situation but it still ticks me off!!! |

I know ice. Look and see which fuse controls the wiper. It should be listed on your central electronics center. If it's blown, you're lucky.

96 C280, similar circumstances, wiper motor burned out and combination switch melted, such that the wiper knob couldn't be turned. Within a year the relay was failing also.
But all of that is probably better than the failure of the wiper transmission (the car I'm talking about has a monowiper, which I don't know how to diagnose). I would thaw it out and try to figure it out - I hope the parts car is good!

Fuse!!! She may have gotten away with one this time. Unbelievable, I love her but she kills cars.

Ha! I have an E320 and a 300D. When she drives the 300D (seldom), that is one of my worst fears. I continually remind her it's a diesel. She says, I know the green handled pumps. That's fine until she pulls into a BP and all the pump handles are green - then I'm screwed! Just a matter of time I suspect.

Don't say that, my wife's taken the 300CE for a 500 KM round trip this week. I have faith though. She's due back tomorrow.
