94 E320 Delphi Harness. 2 dates? how do I know if I have an updated harness?
2 Attachment(s)
I just pulled my wiring harness on the E320 I purchased this weekend. I could only see the date on the back side of the tag which read:
11.03.93 After I pulled the harness I looked at the other side of the tag and it reads: DELPHI Werk Jelesnia F.D.: 13.04.04 Pers.Nr: 1623 MB 124 44X 5632 (can't read the X because it's worn off) So what is the date on this thing? I see a 93 but I also think I see an 04 in the F.D. numbers. Any idea what I have here? |
You have a harness with a fabrication date (FD) of April 13, 2004 and a part number of 124 440.......

Awesome! Saved me some money. Any chance that this is the old harness (still biodegradable wire)?
Bummer that I spent an hour removing the silly thing but glad it's not the original. What's the deal with the 93 date? re-manufactured? Is Delphi the OEM? EDIT: Just found out the 93 was the design date. Still wondering on Delphi. |
I bought the harness new $850 from Phil 4yrs. ago for 95 E320 and it was Delphi can't remember the dates.

ZD is the design date. Delphi made many (or all?) of the replacements. I don't think they made any of the originals. Mercedes has blamed the originals on a Swedish harness subcontractor.

interesting.. mine is a delphi harness, but parts of it are deteriorating... besides where the rat ate it.. does the ETA harness, go up to the brake boosterline for an 3.2 m104?

Any harness with a Delphi label is going to be a replacement harness. I have yet to hear of any replacement (at least, post-2000 replacement harness) that has biodegraded like the OE harnesses did.
