83 300D Tranny question
New to forum. New Mercedes owner. Transmission problem and need words of wisdom. from a stop trying to accelerate engine rev high but no movement. If i feather throttle a bit then allow tranny to shift into 2nd gear. I have heard that this is likely caused by B2 piston failure.
Anyone have experience with this before? Thanks. |
Hi mattrob and welcome to the forum.
I don't quite get what you mean when you say "from a stop" you get no drive but then you allow it to shift into second... can you explain that a bit more? |
A bit of history on your car would be helpful too.
2x on the welcome to the forum. |
Sorry for not getting back men. I adjusted VCV with Mity Vac, adjusted Bowden cable to where there is slight tension on cable at full closed throttle condition(idle) then adusted Vacuum Modulator with pressure gauge to 42.5 PSI. My tranny is a 722.315.
My last resort before rebuild was to check the B2 brake band piston. Good thing i did...... The metal is busted. If i can figure out how to post pics then i will show them. Questions now are where is the best place to buy the required parts and how do i get the old metal style sleeve out as it is still inside the seal? My plan is to replace the K1 spring as well. Thanks for the input. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/album.php?albumid=1918 |
