have looked everywhere...

Hey guys, i've done searches on numerous forums and websearches and I still can't find a wood shiftknob for an 89 300SEL W126. There are wood shiftknobs on ebay but they say only until 88? Anyone know where I could purchase one? even better...one wood or not, with the mercedes emblem on the top, like the new slk's or clk's or whichever model has on their shiftknobs, that would be even better !

I have seen post 88 cars with wood knobs and I am looking at a Momo knob for my 89 and have been told that they fit. Worst case you may need to alter the shift rod which is no biggy.

Matt.

hey

I do a search on a W126 shiftknob on performance products and it can't find any. I specifically went through picking my car and went to the catagories and there wasn't one. Am i missing it?

I found the burlwood and zebrano, do you guys know of a site/store that i could fit one of those part wood/leather shiftknobs with the black mercedes logo on top to my W126?

yup

Okay, i found them, awesome. I might get those. Do you know of a place with wood/leather + the logo on the top like the newer models have? That would be amazing :)

hedpe 02-10-2002 10:31 PM

That is odd, i couldn't find them in the online version of the catalog for my W126. Are you sure that the ones you saw are fit for a W126? What page were they on? Part #?

mikemover 02-11-2002 01:39 AM

hedpe,

Bill said it's in the PRINT catalog, which has a lot more items than the website.

I requested a printout of the magazine to be sent to me but it said it would take any where around 3 weeks. Do any of you know the part # for these shiftknobs with the emblem on the top?

hedpe 02-13-2002 01:27 AM

Alright thanks, I'll have to give them a call tomorrow :)

If you get hold of this month issue of Mercedes Enthusiast, there is a company advertisment that they carry zebrano wooden gear knobs for 34 British pounds (approx $55 US). The web site to this company is http://www.eurocarparts.com. I have never visit their site so I cannot tell you how good they are. To top it off, they are located in the UK so I am not sure what they will charge for shipping.

I went to Performance Products store in Van Nuys yesterday with Ernesto (Hi-Power), and purchased one for my W124. I believe they are used for any MB. You need to buy a new shaft for the knob to attach onto, and that was about $15.00. I don't know why you just can't screw-off your old knob and screw on the new one, but the service counter guy assured me that it can't be done. You have to apparently replace it from underneath by taking out the center console.

On the catalog I have Fall / Winter 2001, the shift knobs we are talking about are shown in two places. The one on the back cover of this catalog is item #6213 and is listed as $79.00. This is the version that I bought.

In the middle of the catalog is another model, #6157, and they are listed for $139.00. They look exactly the same so I don't know why they are different prices.
