fuel pumps
Hi,
I replaced the fuel line from pump to pump on my 1990 560 SEC. As it was running I crawled underneath to check for leaks. The new line was not leaking; however, there was a leak at the metal fitting on the other pump connection. When I tried to tighten it, I accidently grounded the wrench on the positive terminal (rubber cap wore off) and it produced a spark. The engine quit immediately and now it won't start. I replaced the fuel pump relay with another, but there is no power to the pumps. Is there a fusible link or another relay that I've missed. Something should have protected the short. Any help or experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Old Max |

Thanks for your response. The OVP fuses did not blow. I tried a new OVP because sometimes the OVP fuses don"t blow, but the OVP goes bad, and the engine idle
increases and the ABS light comes on until you replace it. I've had that happen. I hope I only fried the fuel pump. It's been raining here in the Bay Area, so, I'll check the fuel pump when the weather clears. |
