Do they make a manual trans that will fit in a late 300SDL

I know my 1980 300D had a 4spd, and I read somewhere that the transmissions are interchangeable in the diesels, but the late model 1987-199.. 300SDL is a inline 6cylinder, any difference in the housing, anyone know anything ?

The transmission from a 1986-88 300E will fit! However the W126 chassis never had a STICK shift in the US, SO finding a clutch pedal assembly & master cylinder would be hard. Also the driveshaft would need modified!

cool man thanks, pedal is the easy part, on my T-bird SC I did the conversion to 5spd, not that hard at all, but first I gotta get this car, its a 1990 350SDL W126, guy says its been hit up front, but no frame damage, here is the link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1804330540

looking from those pictures, something does look really damaged, plus the guy says it has white smoke, I'm thinking white smoke only came from cracked head or gasket, he says its valves, valves would cause a blue smoke, he could be mistaken, let me know what you think, honestly, it needs a lot of work, and someone may actually bid on it, in the end

I found this trans on ebay, the guy claims its a 5spd out of a late model, but if you look at the picture, it could be from a 240D or 300D, because the starter is on the passenger side, what you think?

thanks for your help
