Give us more information on the car, miles, did you replace all of the parts at once? When you bought it did it run? Or did it do this after you replaced all the parts?

I started with a no start and no fuel pumps, the car was doing fine till we pulled into the carport and shut it down my wife had gone the next morning and it failed to start, turns over with no trouble and has a good rate of spin (not draging).I did not have any fuel pumps so we went to a used mass, thats fine now. then put a new ovp on, durring the no fuel pumps I took the fuel dist. apart and cleaned the inlet fuel line filter, I did this because I had no fuel at the injectors, (I also droped several springs and I am sure they are not back in the exact spot they had been in. Replaced the plugs, cap, rotor and checked the resistance of each. Chain had stretch so I changed it. Was not impressed with the color of spark or the fact that it seamed to fade as cranking was prolonged, so I replaced the coilall with in two week period. The car is a 1991 190E 2.6it has had trouble with hot restarts, but never cold.

Ill bet your problem is the fuel dist, either put it back the way it was or get a used one and see if that helps.

no way to put it back as it was for the springs fell and I had no idea of there posistion prior to there falling, I understand they are placed in as they are for fuel flow due to pressure IE if 4 needs more pressure it would have a harder spring, and so on. My thoughts on the subject are of course solved if I have a method to test each out let for fuel pressure, this would tell me if I am over pressure or under. I have to get some fittings to hook up my pressure guage to each injector outlet of the fuel dist. as well as the upper and lower value of the unit I will attempt that this week as well as some other test that I have not done. thanks for your input. by the way I managed to drag myself out to the shop and got my wife to spin over the power plant and the timing is dead on.

Where are these springs from?
The only springs attached to the fuel system are the ones associated with the throttle linkages.
Did you take the Fuel distributor apart?

You need to get another fuel dist.

Unless you can have that rebuilt and know it works perfect, you need to start there and those things are bank$$$!!!

yes I was curious and needed to know if the diaphragm was OK, so I split the unit to inspect. as I said three of the springs that sit on top of the diaphragm fell out as I moved the unit. now I understand that these are tension specific for each port so that you have equal fuel pressure to each injector. My thought about the pressure is that when testing each port i can tell if they are of uniform pressure and in this manner I could make adjustments. what do you think of that?

OK the latest on my no start situation, I got into the injectors removed one at a time and put them into a bucket and jumped the fuel pumps to see if each one was operating. They all had a spray and three had water in them, I soaked each in HEAT to try to clean them. JUST BEFORE I did the clean out of each and while #6 injector was out it rolled over and tried to start. OK I thought this will run now, after the clean up I reinstalled the plugs and it locked up from fuel flooding the cylinders, I removed the plugs and spun the fuel out, reinstalled the plugs and tried it again, another lock up. Again I removed the plugs turned it over blew out the fuel and tried again, no start just kept turning over with a slight chug now and again. For the hell of it I took out the #2 injector plugged the line from the fuel distributor and it chugged quite a bit in an attempt to start. now I am puzzled! is it getting to much fuel or not enough air. I have turned the 3 mm screw c/c thinking I might reduce the fuel but I do not think I did any good. any way I gave up for today tomorrow is a new start. JNT

Thumbs down fuel flooding engine

OK gang here we go with more info on this no start trouble with our 190E 2.6. as I had stated in a post I am having very wet plugs I started out thinking an electrical proublem, IE not enough spark to fire the fuel, so I replaced cap, rotor, plugs, timing chain, to no avail. now then I started chasing electrical values, cps, ovp, mass, potentiometer, EHA, water temp sensor. Well I have gone a step farther in the fuel area, I suffered fuel lock up after testing fuel pressure, now I realize that the pumps are putting out high pressure so I exspected to have some fuel getting into the oil, but I did not exspect to have lock up. This would indicate far more fuel than it should have, getting into the cylenders from the injectors. Farther investigating revield that the intake runers had standing fuel in it. pictures to follow. I had 2 and 1/4 inch of fuel standing in the intake chamber. Now in my thoughts this would mean that I have a masive leek around the center of the fuel chamber (fd) I would like the exsperts to weigh in on this, just to see if I am going in the correct direction.

Hmmmm. Disassembly and reassembly of a FD is really a specialists job.
You might need to find a secondhand unit and try that out.

Unhappy over fueling

I did a home made fuel test on our 190E 2.6, I hooked up six 10 Oz bottles, and jumped the fuel pumps for one min. I got 1@ 6 Oz 2@4 Oz 1@3 1/2Oz 1@ 3 Oz 1@2 Oz now I have no Idea how much should flow so if some one can give me that info I would appreciate it.
