How to clean in tank filter 81 380SLC

The in-tank filter on my SlC was clogged with fine rust after 5 years of storage. I am having the tank cleaned and coated with Ethanol resistant coating and will order a new filter but would like to re-hab the old filter to keep as a spare. Any suggestions would be appreciated. After soaking it in gasoline and using low pressure air the screen remains plugged when you look at it with a magnifying glass. Thanks, Bob Smits

If solvent doesn't clean that screen, throw it away.
