w201 Trans SOS

Last week I brought myself a 1986 w201 190E 2.3 4 speed auto with a bad gear box. Since then I pulled out the broken trans for the car and picked up a new one at a local pic-apart. The org. trans that came with the car was a 722.400 and the replacement is a 722.405. Everything looks the same but for this disc thing on the driverside rear of the trans. Please look at the pics included to see what im talking about. The old trans just have a cover of the round thing with out a trans line going into it. The new one has the cover with the trans line going into it. How would I be able to block this off or swap that cover to work with my car?

The one that came out of my car. 722.400

Its just the one line thats goes into the side of the trans. The two cables are just the speedo and the detent cable

It's the rear (B2 if memory serves correctly) brake piston cover. To swap--
1- Pop the center of the cover with a hard rubber mallet and make sure it frees up
2- flip the trans up on the side, have someone put the hammer handle on the center of the cover and push down to compress the spring
3- take a flat screwdriver or similar and remove the snap ring
4- remove cover

I don't remember ever seeing one with that line before, but I did more new transmissions in the dealers than I did .4 series. I would think that it provides extra pressure into the brake, so it may not function correctly without it, most likely a slow engagement. You'll maybe want a new seal for that too if you remove it.

I will put some RTV around the cover for the seal. Thanks for the help. Let me try that it the morning.
