Knocking noise from rear tire area on a 300SDL
 

The car is an '87 300SDL which has 100K. Ever since I got this car back in September of last year, I've noticed that whenever I go over small, sharp, bumps, I hear a knocking or rattling sound coming from the right rear tire area like as though there is something loose in the trunk...that type of sound. I've raised the car and looked around and moved every thing to see if anything was loose. Everything appears tight. The shocks appear ok with no oil coming from them and car rides fine. I've tried to replicate the sound on the ground by pushing the car up and down on that one area and no noise. Any ideas what this sound can be coming from?

Sway bar links?

Upper rubber bushing at the right rear shock mount??? If that rubber had deteriorated, it would definitely give a knocking that sounds as if coming from the trunk.
