What's MB Battery warranty?

I bought OE MB Battery for 260E back in July 2010, and its got a bad cell.

I think its 2 year warranty, but is it prorated or anything like that?

Thanks!

1. How do you know it has a bad cell ?

2. Looking at your receipt / calling where you bought it should solve the warranty duration question.

Pretty sure they are pro-rated for several years. They are excellent batteries generally...the one in my diesel is over 5 years old and still fires it up every time.

MB uses MB-branded Interstate batteries. Normally Interstate offers 18-24 mos free replacement, then prorated after that. Dig up your receipt and return it for a swap.

Called today and it seems they said its 2 years replacement no prorated anything...

Car won't hold charge under load...I leave the door open for 10mins and car won't start. Its getting 14v while on, so alternator is fine.
I charge the battery and it holds 12.50v disconnected, but as soon as its back in the car, drive for 5-10 miles and its dead 5mins with door open.

You can tell it has a weak output when starting the car too even when charged.

Last time I ever buy a MB Battery...didn't even last a year. Ordering a John Deere Group size 49 dry cell Tractor battery tomorrow

to fully get an idea of the battery's health, you still need to conduct a specific
gravity reading on each cell. folks seem to feel that to measure voltage does
the trick but that overlooks the degree of sulfation....which can be reversed if
caught in time.

I dont ever recall that MB used interstate, The early ones were made by Varta
and all the newer ones are made in Spain for Mercedes using a new technology

Well, let's clarify a bit. I've mostly owned '80s Mercedes, and they all took a Mercedes-branded battery that was actually made by Interstate - part number MTP-93. I noticed that about four years ago; one of my companies sells Interstate Batteries. Now for the clarification: I know those were used throughout the '90s and '00s, but the new cars could have something entirely different. I have no idea what a 2005+ Benz takes.

I've had Interstate batteries in my SD's for years now. My 190E has a battery from AutoZone i think. The 420SEL too I think.

I have a 87 260e with a new MB battery in 2009. So I have been watching this.
My chart for group size 49 says it should be 15 inches long. That is far longer than my battery box will hold I think. Let us know if 49 fits and is 15 inches long.

The 49 is a reasonable substitute (and cheaper) than the 93 series.

I just looked at my battery and MB # is A005 541 2000.
Measures about 10 3/4 length, 6 7/8 wide and 7 1/2 inches high.
Did not remove to measure so not 100% accurate. PO installed it in 2009 for $160.00. I wonder what the BCI group # is? Thanks.

When I needed a battery for my 210 wagon this winter, I called the dealer parts guy to get a quote and he told me the MB batteries were rebadged Interstate batteries. I have been told by someone on benz world that this is not true but I don't know why the parts guy would tell me that and then POS says the same thing so I believe that Mercedes batteries are Interstate batteries.
