1994 Mercedes Benz E320 Air conditioner not blowing cold air

Hello: My 1994 E320 station wagon is not blowing cold air in the a/c unit after I recharged with the refrigerate. The a/c vents works fine. Any ideas out there?

HI thanks for responding. I am a recent newbie to this forum. The air conditioner was not blowing cold air and I put in the 134A refrigerate and the air conditioner is working fine with cooler air, unlike before and not cold enough. As for the compressor, again, I am newbie and I am not familar with the compressor. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

If you got colder air at some point then I'll hazard a guess and say your compressor runs.... however, look on the left side of the engine. half way down for something that looks like the whole face should be spinning around if your system is atleast attempting to work when you turn it on. otherwise, the belt will ride around it and the center part on the front wont move at all.

you said you added R134a to the system and it got colder.... you should have seen if there was a charge in the system first, and if there was how much was there... over charging systems is not good... That being said, you most likely have a leak in the system if it got cold, then warmed up again. Common fail points for the 124's is the AC part in the Dash Evaporator I think it is. the dash has to come out to do that. while it sounds daunting it can be a DIY. More information will help, How long have you had the car, is this a recent issue, did your system get cooler then heat up again or did it stay 'cooler'?

I just got back from autozone. It turns out that the air conditioner needed more refrigerate. I then bought a new can of refrigerate and the people from Autozone were helpful and kind enough to observed me putting the refrigerate in and they said everything looks and feel fine as far as the refrigerate and the compressor as well. I do get a little colder from the a/c. Thanks for all those who helped me.

So it sounds like your air con was cool and after you added freon was cold , you should put ac dye in charge then try to identify where the leak is with special ultraviolet light and googles to help you see where leak could be, sometimes takes a while to spot leak, maybe 500 miles more or less
