High RPM shifting. W201 1986 190E 2.3

Just swapped out my trans in my w201 today. Got everything working and on the road, other than she is shifting high as a kite. Org. the car had a 722.400 gear box. Pulled the new one out of a '91 2.3 witch is a 722.405. 1st to 2th goes at about 4100 rpm. 2th to 3th at about ~2500. And 3th-4th 6500 (64+mph). I think I got the broden/detent cable hooked up and ajusted correctly (full throttle= tight cable). Got the correct amout of trans fluild in it with a brand new filter (cost more than the trans). I need to go back though and check my vacum lines, but Im sure they are all in place. Could this be anything to do with the modulator? Anything Im over looking?

Shift points are controlled largely by that bowden cable. The modulator only controls shift quality. I would try slackening/tighening that cable to its extremes and determining if it is actually doing anything. You might have it too tight.

Let me try that. It might be too tight. Any other ideas?

The 86 and 91 were numerically different chassis. 201.024 and 201.028. I'm not sure what that really implies for you. The 86 came with a 722.400 transmission whereas the 722.408 according to the Mercedes EPC.

It has a note for the 722.405
'PART IS ONLY OR ALSO SUPPLIED AS RECONDITIONED PART'...

It was a new trans in like 2010. The '91 190e I pulled it out of at a pic apart and had a fornt end accident. The gear box it self looks brand freakin' new. The bowden cable did have a little kink in the casing. It looks like where the top of the trans hit the back of the motor when who ever was installing the trans in the car I pulled it out of. I know it wan't me cause it had a small amount of surface rush forming on the install metal casing. I tried my best to on kink the indention with a pair of plyers. I don't know if that did anything, or if i just made it worst.
