W126 300SDL Noisy fan
I have looked through the forum trying to make sense of this and I am confused. I have a noisy fan that probably needs to be replaced. When it first starts, it sounds like something is dying behind the glove compartment. After a minute or two the noise goes away.
I thought that what I needed to replace is the expensive "Blower Motor Complete Motor and Fan Assembly" (1268200542) or the less expensive motor only (0130111001). So I looked at the manual, section 83-120 and it tells me to remove the cover "on the right" below the instrument panel (68-150). Sixto's instructions point under the glove compartment (Blower fan replacment for 1987 300SDL) , which is where the noise is coming from. Is there another blower? Am I looking at the wrong part number?

climate control air cycling pump is behind the glove compartment, and it'll squeal sporadically when it is going bad.

There is a second small fan located behind the glove box. It pulls in sample air from the cabin thru a tube either in the cabin light fixture or an in-dash vent and relays that information to the air/heat conditioning system. You have to remove the glove box to change the sampling motor.
