Question How to attach lower panel to door?

Does anyone know how to attach the lower plastic door panel to a W124 chassis so that it fits tightly to the door?

So there is no gaps to the body?

I assume your talking about the interior panel or more specifically, the map pocket. There are several hanger type clips that insert through holes in the door panel and everything snaps down into place. Mine had been removed for window tint before I bought it and they had broken some clips. I drilled holes in the broken off retainers and used small screws to secure everything. If the clip type retainers are broken then they need to be replaced.

If the clips are broken or gone you will have to get them from Mercedes. Assuming the door is straight and the moulding is also, the moulding should fit tight.

That lower panel is held on by plastic clips that can only be accessed by removing the inside door panel and working from there.

If yours is loose, you probably have a couple of clips that have broken off. I think there are 6 clips in all that run across the bottom and the top of that moulding piece.

Take your inside panel off and give a look.

Good luck!

Paul, with all due respect sir. The outside lower panel can easily be removed without taking the inside panel off. Release the bottom clips and the top ones release by sliding them side to side.

You may be right...

..but I seem to recall that the lower clips were "one way" -- meaning once they're snapped on, you have to break them to release them, or pinch the clip shaft from the inside to release them.
