Possible purchase

Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to get a 95 S500.. It is in immaculate condition 165k miles.. Ther only thing that is wrong with it is the a/c compressor is shot, and the passenger side headlight wiper is stuck.. The asking price is $3,900... What are some of the issues that might present themselves or that I should look out for before purchase?
Thanks guys!

Need Help Deciding on 95 S500 Purchase

:confused:Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to get a white 95 S500.. It is in immaculate conditioninside and out and has 165k miles.. Ther only thing that is wrong with it is the a/c compressor is shot, and the passenger side headlight wiper is stuck.. The asking price is $3,900... What are some of the issues that might present themselves or that I should look out for before purchase? What is a good price that you feel wouldbe acceptable? are there many failures that happen with this model?

Thanks guys!

PS it doesn't have the reverse indicators :( I LOVE those!!

I guess the owner told you the compressor is shot, the compressor is not a bad job, if it is the evaporator it is a minimum of $5000 and the entire dash comes out, It is an issue for all 140s except the late 90s My dealer designates this job to a employee or two at least 8hrs.

W140 are very nice rides - but sooooo expensive to maintain.

Hmmm.......here goes. A/C evaporator, engine wiring harness, assorted front end parts, leaky steering boxes and pumps, catalytic converters, pneumatic locking/closing assist pumps, window motors and regulators, climate control blower motor and regulator, throttle actuators and traction system stuff........

If you own a W140 long enough, you're quite likely to have issues with these systems at some point. Proceed with caution. :)
