W124 A/C r12 refill
hello guys, im new to this, i own a 1992 mercedes benz 300e base model, 3 months ago i was replacing the auxiliary fans and i disconnect the pressure lines to the condenser, i re connect the lines almost instantly, before that a/c was working smooth, but now the a/c is not cold enough anymore, i am not a certified tech, but i would like to recharge the system myself, there is a label that states r12 in the engine bay, so,
1-can i just recharge it or do i have to evacuate the whole system? 2-can i just re-fill the system with the kits on ebay? 3-do you guys know how to do this? thanks for your help guys. |
Based on what you said about yourself, I rec that you save up a few hundred dollars, and find a pro who works with r12. Have them replace the receiver/dryer & pressure switch, evac the system, recharge with r12, and be done with it in a few hours.
Or, use the "Search" function above to find and then read the many tens of threads here that have already answered your questions:) You should evac the whole system. You should not just add r12. |
I did a search and only two threads came up. This is the only relevant thread of the two.

Why are you set on r12? Just curious.....

Sorry, I missed your post.
I don't want to do a conversion. I don't want to spend the time or the money. I'm just trying to get through the summer. Only 6 weeks to go. Hopefully by next summer, I'll be driving one of my R134a cars and it won't be an issue. Regards, Eric |
