Has anyone replaced a dipstick tube on a 126 380 V8?
I need to replace my dipstick tube on my 126 380SE,...(it was bent years ago by someone working on the engine,...and it leaks and is positioned incorrectly). I have the new one, Looks like I might not be able to remove the old one without dismantling the front of the engine at least partially.
Can anyone tell me if I can just pull out the old one and push in the new one,....or is there some accessory removal or engine dissasembly required. Brian |
drain the oil, remove the lower pan. GENTLY TAP the tube out from the bottom, after removing the bolt at the water pump. same goes for installing, GENTLY TAP into place, using antisieze. use a screwdriver with an outer diameter big enough for the inner of the tube, short if possible. good luck, chuck.
