It looks like it's the B2 piston. Am I correct in saying the part is around $150 and we're looking at 2-3 hours of labor?

That's about right. An experienced MB mechanic should be able to do it with the transmission in the car (as many of us have, though it is a tight squeeze) but I've heard many mechanics prefer to drop it for more room. What was the nature of the failure? Blown seal? Blown cover? Piston itself?

Don;t know yet, but two knowledgable opinions say B2 probably failed due to age. The mechanic has a lift, so will probably drop the tranny to replace. The forum probably just saved my beloved Benz and saved me $2000. Thanks to all who replied.
