Need wiring diaghram/pinout for 1980 kjet

Well the nice 280SLC I just bought has some serious wiring issues. Looks like the wire harness melted going to the KJetronic ECU The car starts and drives, but I believe there is not cold start squirt.

Any help appreciated.

Bosch 0280800027 is the only number on the unit (along with k-Jetronic). Also looking for connector,,, maybe I should go to the parts wanted page for that.

cold start does not come from an ecu, it's the starter and the temp of the thermal time sender that fires the cold start injector.

what ecu? does it have an oxygen sensor? if so, it's probably a 25 pin ecu. post the number and i can check. that would be a TYPICAL kjet w/lambda and the connector and harness would be close if not the same in HOW it plugs into the ecu. the wire color WILL be different as volvo, vw, saab, etc used thier own colors. you might have to move a wire or 2, but that's easy enough.

personally, i wouldn't worry about it. the o2 was mostly for emmisions and there's little, if any, benefit in mpg. having owned kjets and kjets w/lambda in 240 volvos, the o2 got me approx 1-2 mpg on the highway over the non-o2 cars. the m110 is thirsty and the o2 working won't help much.

read this, there's a diagram for the cold start system on the same engine-

good luck, chuck.

From what I see in that diaghram, the cold start gets it's 12V from a wire that also goes to the jetronic box. my jetronic wire harness has been spliced, and there's no telling what wire is what without a headache from being in an awkward position for several hours.

the diagram in the post has no ecu. i don't know what you're seeing. power comes from the ignition switch while starting, powers the injector and the fuel pump relay. if the thermal timer is cold enough, it supplies the ground for he injector. good luck, chuck.

The diaghram I looked at is barely viewable.
Either way, I am still in search of pinout of the K jetronic.

What's there has been bastardized, no O2 sensors, but there are a couple holes plugged in the exhaust manifolds.

7 wires going to the Jetronic, none of them labeled, I'm afraid to move the lambda unit around for fear of pulling a wire off the box, and not knowing where it goes or what it does.

Soon I will have a connector from a Volvo, I'm hoping it'll fit. Maybe I can figure somethign out from that harness.

well the volvo's jetronic connector is much different, pins are the same size, but the spacing between them is tighter. back to square one.

Found the wiring diaghram!!!
It's located in the W123 manual.
