W210 Windshield wiperw
99 E320. No rain sensor, or it has been broken for the 3 years I have owned the car.
Once actuated the wipers won't turn off until the key is removed from the ignition. I looked at the N/10 combination relay, all the pins are clean and seated, but didn't see any relays to clean as recommended by some of the posts when I searched. Any other relays to check? I don't think it is the switch, once off it stays off, but not righting it off yet. Any way to check it? Months of trouble free driving...working on the other cars/boat...maybe she's jealous. |

More info
Had to make a run to the store for missing dinner ingredients. Turned the key on and the wipers came on. Pulled the wiper motor fuse. Thinking now it might be the stalk. Yes? No?

Why not replace the rain sensor? It may be partially failing. And pulling the steering wheel to remove the combo switch can be difficult but not complicated.

Thanks Richard,
I went out this morning and all is fine. Much less humid today, thinking it might be a dirty connection. To trouble shoot, I pulled fuse 4 under the back seat that powers the rain sensor, no effect. I did a search for rain sensor, it said it was a blue dot on the windshield near the rear view mirror. Is this correct? I only have the black multidot pattern that frames the windshield, no blue dots. |

When the light is just right, you can see a small 3/8" square which has a iridescent blue/red (purple) color. It's is in the center about 1" down from the top of the windshield. The black hatch pattern is much larger. The sensor is inside a black plastic 'box' fastened on the inside just behind the RV mirror.
I may be mistaken but I thought the rain sensor was standard on the W210. Perhaps someone removed it.
