6spd in a C230 coupe
 

Hi everyone, I just bought a C230 coupe and need to know if the sloppy shifter feel from 1st to 2nd and the clunk it makes is "normal" as the shop foreman and Mercedes rep tell me. I certainly don't remember it being this way in the one I test drove. All in all, I love the car, but I hate the transmission. Are there any shifter adjustments that can be done on this transmission, or am I stuck with something that feels like it belongs in a 40 yr old VW bug? The rep said they would put a new 2nd gear syncro in if I wanted, but that he didn't think it would make a difference. He also said he wouldn't do it if it was his car since he wouldn't want them taking his trans apart. Not very confidence inspiring. It was between this car, and an Acura RSX. I think I might have picked wrong.

This new 6-speed trans is the "BEST" feeling shifter that MB has ever built. IT has internal linkage like most "good" feeling transmissions. IF you want to feel slop just hop into any earlier BENZ with a stick shift.
