Should I buy a 200t?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey gang.
Found a 1982 Euro 200t for sale locally for $1000. It has lots of miles, and is so-so cosmetically. However, it has manual everything, and it's a wagon. And, it was professionally lowered and has nice rims with brand new tires. No rust. I test drove it and it handles well and stops in about half the time as my 300D. Clutch is good. The seller told me he was going to swap in a carbed 302/5spd and it bolts right in with new motor mounts. I was thinking I might finish the job. Or swap in another carbed MB motor? What does everyone think? |
It would be a very good car to put in a 617Turbo diesel. Especially if it has a manual 4 speed transmission. Fuel injected, about 140 hp, built for the car, everything fits. How could you go wrong?

I have an '85 300d sedan, and this thing is faster and WAY lighter feeling.
Not planning to go the diesel route. |
That seems to be a lot of car for the money to me. If you want it why not buy it? What can possibly go wrong? (wink wink)

not bad for 1K...:)

and don't think of mileage as level of usage, think of it as 'experience' :D

Mileage
It has over 300k on the carbed 2.0, and the motor has a slight knock, so probably won't be around too much longer.
The tires, wheels and lowering springs alone are worth what they're asking. Anyone have info on motor swaps for this car, such as the one I mentioned? Since it's carbed it would only be really easy to swap in another carbed motor. |
