Difference between M103 4matic and M103 RWD
Hi,
I had a damaged fuel distributor which probably led to broken piston rings in cylinder 1 (4 bar compression) and 6 (0 bar compression) (probably oil being washed off by fuel) and I got an offer for a "new" M103 which is from a TE with 4matic. They noticed it has a different oil pan and it has no oil dipstick (wtf?). I need to know if there are any other differences that could make life harder than it should . Any idea? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Andreas. |

Of course you will need to swap the oil pan & several other parts to make the engine FIT.
It should have a dipstick on the opposite side.

but in general the engine will fit? No need to replace the oil pump e.g.?
Thanks for your help. I want my 300CE back on the road as my Lincoln Mark IV isn't the best car for these weather conditions here . Kind regards, Andreas. |

FWIW, its probably harder to go 4-m to non 4-m than the other way around. You will need to swap oil pumps, will have no dipstick, and a few oil pan bolt holes won't have threads.
