Where do you get your true dual exhaust? I have found a euro 560sel and it has only 86,000kms according to the owner. It has been hit lightly in the front pass side. and he says it sounds like the cats are plugged when it is running, although I never heard it.

From his description of metal to metal sounds by the engine while running, I am thinking it is not the exhaust...cause that just does'nt make sense. More likely...something is rubbing on the accesory pulley's due to the front end damage. I am wondering if the exhaust headers and related dual exhaust setup being that this is the euro model would work if it was removed from the 560 and bolted onto the 420 sel north American version? Thanks

Yes I believe the headers and exhaust can be swapped over to the 420.

A better swap would be the whole euro engine AND exhaust! That engine has a good 50+ more HP on tap....plus, 86,000km?! Thats super low.


If it was "gently hit" is it repairable? A euro model is much more desirable than a North American version....

Repairable?,...good question I don't really know cause the front rad support might be crunched on the pass. side. I was'nt really looking too hard at anything but the exhaust when I saw it briefly. I would probably just strip it for parts and keep the driveline.

I also have another good parts car to strip parts from, such as a fender and bumper if the rad support turns out to be o.k.

This euro model has some nice wheels on it too. The pass. side front one near the collision is scuffed up a bit but repairable. They look like AMG's

It looks like the suspension took most of the damage cause the wheel is kind of hanging at a funny angle....almost at 90 degrees to the fender.

The interior is very dusty though and has cloth seats that have faded from the sun. I think it has been sitting quite a while.

I did ponder the whole engine but we just put a new chain and guides in the 4.2. I guess we could hook on the exhaust and save the 5.6 for when the 4.2 goes out.

Cylinder head to exh. manifold bolt patterns differ between M116 (420) and M117 (500/560). The manifolds do not interchange.

That sucks.....So I guess I need a euro 420 (m116) to swap to dual exhaust? Thanks for the info. Good excuse to swap the 560 in, Hit Man.

I second swapping in the euro 560, way more worth it than replacing headers. :D
