Warped Rotors on 500SEC
My 1985 500SEC (206,000) has developed an unusual brake problem. When the brakes are cool, especially in cold weather, they stop as smooth as silk. Once they become warm, they want to surge, just like a warped rotor. Can not feel it in the pedal, but sure can in the body. Any thoughts? If the bad rotor is only warping with temperature, then having them turned will not fix the problem. Suggestions??
(Anybody know who grinds rotors instead of simply turning them?) |
Mercedes rotors are not intended to be turner or ground.
Check fastlane or partsshop here for new ones if you suspect the discs. I replaced both front discs and pads on my 300ce, Pretty cheap For peace of mind if you ask me. Alon |
you may wish to do a suspension check-up as well as tire check-up
suggest taking a look at the condition of the brake hardware, chassis, and front suspension as well as brake fluid condition I agree with Ashman, if its the rotors, new OEM MB are quality and the way to go for trouble free street use -fad |
