M104 Manual transmission conversion ideas

I currently have a 300ce with a manual tranny converted from a 1986 5 speed.

I am considering a 6 speed from an SLK ? Has anyone done the conversion.

Is the SLK 6 speed manual a traditional manual with clutch pedals and all?

Thaks. And other ideas are welcome.

The six speed uses a dual mass flywheel pedals are the same the difference is the six speed doesn't use shifting rods any more the shifter is attach to the transmission

Can you elaborate on the shifter differences?

The shifter linkages sound to be internal, i.e. there are no external bars to wear out/through.

You may have to measure from the bellhousing to the shifter centreline in the car, to make sure they line up.

Some of the systems can be cut-and-welded to get the shifter into a more convenient position, but then some can't. Someone here will certainly be able to tell you.

if you've seen what the shifter on a bmw looks like; a rod out the back and the handle mounted on the tail of the trans. The SLK and C class cars have a very similar setup.

I have one of the 6-speed transmissions here. I have the older 5-speed as well. I'll see if I can get a practical picture of them side by side here on this thread.
