1984 230e (European Import) manuals and Support

I was just recently given a 1984 230e (European Import) I am new to the Mercedes cars but have a little mechanical experience. One problem that I have with the car is that it won't start. I have trouble shot the concern and belive that it is the fuel filter or fuel pump. I don't have a Service manual so I have been doing an on line research and I have yet to find a good service manual or a good parts source. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

For a 230E, the W201 FSM might be more useful. Better still, see if your library has this book - http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Fuel-Injection-Engine-Management/dp/0837603005 .

1984 230e Mercedes support

This is a great start. Thanks for the replies to my request for help on the 1984 230e.
The online manuals do have a lot of information and it is going to take me a little while to try to figure out what info will pertain to my challenges.

I saw some phone numbers posted, does that mean i can reach out to you for some help if needed?

Thanks again
jim

Update on 1984 230E that wouldn't start

Got the 230E running and it runs very smooth and quite. Runs great on the road except when i am ideling. Am planning to replace the fuel Injectors and see how that works. to get it running I emptied the gas tank (since it had sat for a couple of years and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump. Not bad for a first timer on the Mercedes car. Thanks for all you help with tips and technical direction. i do plan on replacing the voltage regulator on the alternator, just in case.

Thanks

Does your car have slimmer home market bumpers or DOT 5mph bumpers? This thread discusses US license plates on home market bumpers - Front Euro Bumper plate bracket

With DOT bumpers the plate attaches to a bracket that attaches to the underside of the bumper -

I don't know of a bracket for the rear of a 123. On US cars the plate attaches directly to threaded holes in the trunk. I think the same is true for home market cars but the hole spacing might be different.

Front Euro Bumper license plate bracket

The rear license plate screws are set far enough for the European plates. Can't mount the US plates with that configuration. I guess i need to figure out a way to make a braket that will hold the US plates.
The problem will be the front bumper bracket..any ideas?

Umm... Is your front bumper different from the two types described above?

IIRC the bracket in the referenced link will also serve to adapt a US plate to home market hole spacing in the rear.
