Mono wiper question, revised, so please read again....
 

Below was the original question, about lubing some gears, which is now already done. But now, even after lubing the gears, I still have the same problem. The wiper still goes across the windshield slowly at first, but if the windshield is wet, it will do ok. What could be the problem now? Could it be the brushes on the motor are bad, or is it time for a new motor, or could it be something else, weak fuse, etc.?

On my 1991 300d, my wiper has been reluctant to go across the windshield. At long last, I found a great thread on how to fix it, as my "turtle shell" cover does not come off from the top like some newer models; the entire wiper arm assembly had to come out, so the screws from underneath and inside the turtle shell, can be undone. Only then, can the turtle shell be opened.

The question I have now, is on the plastic semi-circle gear, shown here on that thread, the 3rd picture down, the photo on the left. I don't see any grease there from before (no old grease, like what was in the turtle shell), but I'm wondering if I should put some there. I imagine it won't hurt anything, but I'm surprised there was apparently none there (or perhaps just a little) from the manufacturer. Maybe I ought NOT to put grease on those plastic gears.

yes - grease is applied to that crescent, use some grease that wont damage plastic.
