How is smooth running used in diagnostics? What are the two screens telling me?

These may not be off of a Mercedes Benz but I'm still curious.

It is used in misfire diagnostics. The numerical values allow you to pinpoint a mean deviation from the average speed of the crankshaft. The values -3.5 to 3.5 would be the expected range and values outside that indicate a misfire.

The graph is showing the acceleration and deceleration of the crankshaft.
