Hints for replacing fuel pressure regulator?
I have a new fuel pressure regulator (from PartsShop, of course!) and want to replace my old one to see if this will help an intermittant rough idle problem. The CD doesn't seem to cover this job. My Haynes manual says to depressurize the fuel system before attempting to take out the old regulator by taking out the fuel pump relay and cranking the engine a while.
Is this necessary? Any other little hints or things to watch out for? Thanks! |
If you don't let the pressure off, it will blow like crazy all over you!!!! I would wrap a rag around the fuel inlet line and crack it loose to let out the pressure.

I replaced my regulator on the bmw after the fuel filter and never had any problems with gas spraying when I removed either of the two.

Thanks for the input, both of you! Will give it a try this weekend weather permitting (we are expecting a heavy snowstorm tonight).
