Unhappy Getting the crumbs out

I pulled the spark plug wire cap - and it shattered in the spark plug tube type area. (That hole that the whole plug goes down and screws at the bottom.)

This is on my 1995 E420 - Engine - 119.975

So there are broken pieces down in the tube - where I can't reach them.

The spark plug tool will not grab the plug. So - right now, I'm stuck.

Is there a spark plug socket that has "fingers" at the bottom so if some plastic is there - the wrench can still grab the plug.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

Things I've done / considered:
  • Water - the plastic sinks, I was thinking if it floated, I'd just float it out.
  • The MB Dash board puller - didn't get any pieces out
  • Long stick with some grease on the tip

I'm thinking of using a vacuum hose - I will be sensitive to gas fumes in the sweeper.

To make matters worse - this is plug number 4 - back by the firewall - but Murphy wrote a law about those things.

Your thoughts are appreciated

Comment: The car is running smooth - so I guess the boot of the wire got low enough for contact.

Wink da - that was easy

What a wonderful idea - just blow it out - safe and effective.

Thanks so much - I was over thinking the problem.

I went to the local gas station - with free tire air. I took the car, preped for cleaning - and sprayed air in

It would great - 4 pieces of orange plastic came flying out.

All safe and effective - thanks so much for the simple idea.

Thanks again

The plug has been changed - and all is well

bamboo kabob skewer and a shop-vac might work. Hit it with the shop-vac then pick out the little pieces with the skewer while the shop-vac is sucking. So you can "poke n suck" or just "blow" it all out. It's all good.
