Need Help Please!! Heater blower motor

Hello Everyone,

I'm the new owner of a 1993 300E 4dr sedan 3.2L my first MB. I purchased the car knowing the blower motor bearing is going out. After hours of research I found two part #'s, the first 000 830 82 08 w/o dust filter and the second # was 124 820 06 08 with dust filter. I want to replace the blower motor myself, but knowing what it takes to get to the blower motor, I would like to have the correct motor in hand when I start this project. My local MB dealer was no help, for $200 they would bring it in and pull the old one, then if I wanted it replaced that would be an additional $300. Any guidance anyone can give me would greatly appreciated.
Here is all the info I can find on the car.
1993 300E 3.2L Sedan
Chassis code: 124.032
Engine code: 104.992
Not sure what this code is: M104 16 Saloon

Thanks again

UPSdave,
Get the VIN number from the plate at the bottom of the windshield or off your registration papers. Take this number to the Benz parts department. They can give you the correct replacement number. You can also try Peach parts on this forum.

Having a quick look on

EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google for you comes up with this page on the Russian EPC

http://mb.ilcats.ru/part/class/1/ccode/F/cat/15V/type/124/subtype/032/group/83

Two numbers are given for part 74 "blower"

000 830 82 08

and

124 820 06 08

I can't tell you what the difference between these two parts is though...

...get in touch with Phil at peach parts (site sponsors) - he can probably tell you more

They added a dust filter to the 124 later in it's production run. Easy way to tell if it has it or not:
The strip at the base of the windshield is one piece of rubber from one windshield post to the other, runs also around the wiper motor area.
On a non-dust filter car there is a trim strip on each side of the wiper motor (from one side of the wiper motor to the windshield post).
If you want to open your hood and take a pic of the wiper area i can tell you which it is.

You need to provide us with the VIN number. Otherwise just take the VIN with to the dealer and they can easily check on EPC. I f you open the bonnet the VIN will be on a metal plate. Something like this WDB124XXXXAXXXXXX.

This has nothing to do with the air filter, this was a change in the wiper design. If the car has AC it has an air filter.

It was the 124 820 06 08 part number. New blower in the car, just in time for winter.
Thanks for all the help and advice!!
