Need help with EPC

Within the past few months every time I try to access EPC I get the following error message: FAILED TO VALIDATE CERTIFICATE. THE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE EXECUTED.
I've tried on different computers using Java 6 & 7, Google Chrome, FireFox & Windows IE and get the same message. I sent the info to the EPCnet Online contact us three times with no reply.
Anyone know why I can't access the site?
Thanks.
J.

I sent them a note about your problem; see if I have more luck.

Epc won't work with Java 7.
You must uninstall it.
Then load Java 6

EPC works fine with Java 7. I've been running it without problems for a while now.

I would check and make sure the time and date are correct on the machine. Incorrect time and date will cause certificate validation failures. I know this is true in browsers. It might be true for Java applications as well.

I have the same problem with mine. My 2 computers at home also have certificate issues but the one at the office works fine. All run the latest Opear browser and java7. At home I run Win7 and WinXP sp2 and at work win xp sp3.
One big difference is that I run Avira antivirus at home and we use Mcafee at the office. I have looked for system reguirements needed to run EPC but can't find anything. The forum is in german so that doesn't help either.

Attached is the error I receive.

Can you attach screen shots of the other two tabs as well?

Sure.
I numbered them 1 through 3. I also checked my jre version by entering "java -version" in CMD and it returned the information also attached.
Also attached flashplayer version.

JamesDean, are you running JRE 1.6 or 1.7? I see both my home PC's are running 1.7...will check the office pc when I'm there again.

I found the minimum specs(on the main EPC page...) and it specifies :

Java Runtime Version 1.6, Macromedia Flash Player 7 or above, Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or above (Download Links are at right menu under heading Downloads)

The 'or above' part can refer to the flash player only and it specifically wants JRE 1.6...
I have found certain java applets to work on jre1.6 but not 1.7. JamesDean?

Well based on the second tab it looks like for whatever reason the one package failed to download. That caused the EPC to not load.

Let me see my version info:
On this machine I've got 1.6_24, another 1.6_30. My work laptop has 1.7. All three work.

I see you have your location as South Africa. As far as I was aware the EPC (at least the free access level) was for North American customers. Your download might have been blocked due to location? Its just a thought.

Edmund 11-06-2012 04:14 AM

Im going to go check the versions at the office today. Will post that information from there.

There are many memebers of the South-African Mercedes club that use EPC so it's not limited to North America.

Which Antivirus are you running? Im beginning to suspect Avira...

JamesDean 11-06-2012 07:58 AM

My work laptop is running Java 1.7.0_07.

Not sure what anti-virus they have on these machines. At home I have Microsoft Security Essentials.

pawoSD 11-06-2012 11:31 AM

Avira is a terrible antivirus. It causes many many problems, and I would suspect it in this case, its allowing the inital connection, but is blocking the app download, hence the "unknown" in the exception error. Disable or remove it and try again. And then install Security Essentials AV, much less intrusive and works well.

Running exactly the same versions of JRE and flash here at the office so going to change antivirus when I get home.
Seeing the process go through successfully it seems the problem I have on my other computers is that it cannot verify the application's digital signature...

oldirty88, what antivirus are you running?

Edmund 11-07-2012 11:35 AM

Switched to MS essentials and have exactly the same error message.

Any other ideas?

I had the same problem but I open the program directly in firefox after that no problem. I do not save the program on the computer.

Having the same "validation" issue on work desktop (Win 7 Firefox or IE) and laptop (Vista firefox/chrome) but last time I tried it on a laptop running XP it worked. Frustrating.
