W126 Passenger Seat Stuck, How to remove?
 

Hey everyone,

My buddy's 560SEL's passenger seat is stuck. The seat forward/reverse does nothing, and every few seconds the seat will tick forward and the reverse, like its jammed or stuck.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the seat? I've got none. The seat is covering up the front bolts. The rears MIGHT Be accessible.

Electrical contact cleaner into the switch on the door should be the first thing to try?

Its not the switch, we swapped one in that was known working. Definitely something in the seat itself.

If you can raise/lower the seat, you might be able to get to the bolts.
You can also try jumping power/ground the the connector under the front of the seat, at the connector points, will need a wiring diagram to figure out the fore/aft wires.
If the motor itself is junk you can probably figure out which motor drives fore/aft (I know I've done this before, just need to study it), then seperate the cable from the motor and drive the inner cable, usually a drill will run the cable.
It's not a lot of fun, but a challenge, i always enjoyed a good challenge.

Sometimes it's easier to access the individual motor connectors from the rear. Along the back edge of the seat's memory controller the individual motor connectors are lined up, you can unplug each them until you find tye one that controls the forward/backward motor and with a couple of leads with female connectors apply 12 volts and thereby bypass the memory controller which may be the problem as it appears that there is some intermitent electric current being sent to that motor.

The four pole plug has two small connections and two larger connections, the larger ones are the drive voltage connections the smaller ones are the feedback position rheostat connections.
