Can a M103 power an SEC
Question to all. I have seen an SEC AMG on craigslist with a blown engine and was wondering would my 88 300e engine fit this car? I'm thinking it should but was wondering what type of conversion would have to happen? Any thoughts?

I've read the M103 won't fit under the flatter coupe hood.
People have made the OM617 fit, but it is a cylinder shorter. And it is the first cylinder on the M103 that hits the hood supposedly. If that is the case you could attempt the lower the drivetrain. However 500/560 motors really aren't hard to find nor are they of extreme value and you wouldn't have to re-engineer anything. 300 SEC - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum |
Just repower it with what came in there from the factory...the M103 is best left to small cars that are quite light. They are poor performers in anything X126.

I would put a 606 turbo in there, but thats just me. :D
A turbo-outfitted M103 would be a different story also. |
