67 250SL Piston & Rings
Hi all,
I have decided that that puff of blue/grey exhaust in 1st and 2nd is getting a little too obvious and new pistons and rings will be needed. Question is this - Should I rebore to ft oversize 250 pistons (I assume they are available) or do I have a rebore to take 280 pistons? An you rebore a 250 block to take 280 pistons? I'ed appreciates your collective views. Thanks Dan |

The 250SL had 82.00mm standard pistons which are probably available in .5mm and 1.0mm oversize maybe more. The 280SL had 86.5mm standard size and probably should only go one oversize because of the narrow area between some of the cylinders.
You probably can not bore the 82mm block to the size of the 280. You will have to go over size on which ever motor you have.
