722.369 Valve body question

Hi everyone. First off, Merry Christmas! I have a question regarding one little part that seems to be missing from my valve body and I'm hoping there are some 722.3 gurus around that might be able to help. In the process of resealing the front pump and replacing the B3 friction discs, I decided to take apart the valve body and clean it. When I removed the shift valve housing I was careful not to lose any valves and nothing dropped out, same with splitting the upper and lower halves. When looking at the FSM however, I noticed there is one valve that is missing from the upper portion. It is labeled "Non-return valve of primary pump" and is number 24 on the attached image.

I never saw this valve when I pulled the housing from the transmission, and its pretty large and hard to miss. I've looked all over the very small space that I'm working in and its nowhere to be found. I'm wondering if its possible that the 722.369 didn't use this valve? (the manual I have lists 26 different versions of the 722.3, but does not include the .369) I'm also wondering if someone has removed the valve body in the past and lost it then. I do have a 5 year old receipt from the PO where he brought the car to the dealer because the transmission would not upshift. They removed the kickdown solenoid and suggested a valve body replacement, but he declined the work so I'm not sure what he ended up doing to fix it. Aside from the slipping reverse, the transmission has shifted fine in the 10k miles I've driven the car.

Anyone know if all 722.3 valve bodies used this valve, and if so, what the part number is and where I might be able to find one quickly? I really want to get this thing buttoned up so I can get it back in the car. Thanks!

If that valve was missing from a trans that requires it, the car would never MOVE.

Alright thanks, good to know! I guess I'll scour my workspace a couple more times and make absolutely sure that it isn't hiding somewhere. If I can't find it, I'll assume it doesn't need it. Moment of truth will be seeing if the car moves!

I don't know for sure but from my limited understanding if there isn't a secondary pump fitted to the transmission then I wouldn't be surprised if this valve wasn't fitted. Like I say I'm not 100% sure about this but I guess the "non return valve for the primary pump" is only used when the transmission is being powered by the secondary pump (under tow start conditions).

If, however, you have a secondary pump my guess is that you'll never tow start the sucker with out that valve as the hydraulic pressure made at the less powerful secondary pump will bugger off via the primary pump and probably off into the ether...

...please note - I'll say it again - I'm not 100% sure about this - I reckon I'm about 65% sure about it so long as you don't have a secondary pump!

Arthur Dalton sent me a link to a different PDF that showed the valve as having been eliminated when MB started omitting the secondary pump from the .3 and .4 transmissions at some point in the 90s. So Stretch, you were correct. Good to know I'm not going crazy, thanks for the help everyone!

If you guys would be so kind to post up your valve body part numbers - the numbers actually written on the valve body - the next time you do a filter change, this sort of information might be able to help people in the future from not having panic attacks. Oh and say of course if you know if that pesky primary pump non return valve is fitted or not!

Crap, I put the pan on before I saw this! I'll get the valve body number next time the pan comes off, but for now:

722.369 transmission, NO non return valve, NO secondary pump.

Here are the images I shot of the valve body as I was taking it apart. Only number I can read from the pictures is 124 270 57 15, there's probably more though. Note the large amount of silt in on the backing plate and in the oil galleys. Most of it likely from the fried B3 clutches.
