2002 C320 wagon for $3500 ???

Car is in AutoTrader. It is said to run well and photos show it in fairly clean decent shape and with approx. 180K miles. I know nothing about MB cars later then 1995. Does anyone know if these cars had any inherent problem issues or anything I should be aware of?

I believe the V6 engine has problems with balance shafts, and front pulley likes to fall off.My SD has pulley problems but I tighten once a year.

By 2002 the balancing issues were resolved.

Check transmission history and if the original Valeo radiator has been replaced.

2002 C320

It is a different Benz, not pre 1995.
Suspension is weak and not designed to be abused. Transmission is life-time oil, but it is killing the transmission and you are looking into 7000 repairs. There are 300 dollars kits to replace transmission oil despite manufacturer recommendation. Radiator is probably due replacement. If it is 4Matic - you MUST put all four tires same patterns and wear.

Power steering may leak. Engine is OK ( harmonic balancer are belongs to E klasse / ML world and not a major issue for C320)
Power steering can leak and require replacement. Water pump is the same. Battery and alternator must give full charge, otherwise error codes will fly in all modes.

What should you do?? If you want that car...get a pre-purchase inspection from a good BENZ technician!
