How to remove fuel distributor
Hi all. I brought a fuel distributor home from the JY today that's attached the throttle body and I was wondering how to separate the two? I don't want to damage my "new" distributor but I don't see how they are secured together. 2.6 m103. I've got the bottom off the intake so I can see the spring mechanism and all ... and in retrospect I should have left well enough alone, I now realize that the body I pulled was untouched, the protective ball was still in place I should have just swapped the whole deal. Too late I've got it apart and now it's compromised because I messed around with the internals trying to figure out how to separate the distributor.
Thanks

Protective ball ???? Pictures ??
When I pulled the fuel dist on my 91 300SL ( M104 6 cyl ) the 3 ish screws near the top center of the dist were all that needed to be removed. There are some screws near the fuel injector tubes that lead to adjuster screws from what I recall so ne need to pul them. Have a look at 190rev dot com , there has to be some info there. |

See this image?
There are three flat bladed screws on top of the FD. You remove them There is a very thin O ring underneath the FD. be careful of it. Get a new one from your local dealership - it's a very cheap cost. Be very careful when you install the new O ring. The EHA is mounted on the side. There are two small green rubber O rings between the EHA and FD body. Get new O rings from the dealership as well. You will need to have the air mixture ratio adjusted after you fit the new FD. Technically the FD plunger to AFM should be adjusted properly as well. This image was used for some other explanation. The "here it is" refers to the filter between the incoming fuel line and the FD. |
