Question Strange brake grinding 190E

Great forum. I have brake grinding in the front of my 1990 190E 2.6. Despite having new pads and rotors (on back as well as front) and recently replacing front wheel bearings. There is no pulling or binding. The noise does not happen everytime the breaks are applied, but usually when stopping from 40 to 50 MPH, it will happen the last few seconds of breaking as the car stops. I'm baffled
THanks in advance

That is great info Bill. Thanks.

I have semi-metallic pads and I get squeal when they get hot. There is also a gringing or grabbing the last few feet of a hard stop. I will switch to organic next time.

Thanks for the info. I did the new pads myself and used MB pads from the dealer. When the brakes first started grinding the old pads were only 50% worn, although the rotor was hashed. The old pads were MB from the dealer. Are all of MB pads organic, or should I ask specifically for them ? I have always used MB parts for brakes because of the "not stopping problem". Are aftermarket parts equitable and safe ?
Thanks again...
szabo.

Bill I bought the car with the previous rotors on them. The way the previous owners maintained the car, they could have been the origional rotors.
Thanks,
