W210 97 E420 cranks but wont start

Hi all I have a 97 E420 that at first was cranking for 5 to 6 seconds when it was hot before it started. Now that has turned in to cranking but not starting at all and also the ASR, Check engine, ABS and brake light are on as well. The battery was drained from cranking it so I have replaced the battery, installed a new Crank position sensor and fuel pressure regulator. I have no codes or pending codes after checking it with an OBDII scanner I have also checked the fuel presure while cranking and get 50psi at the fuel rail. I have checked to see if the red and green lights blink while cranking and get nothing so I doubt its a DAS problem. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wanted to add that I now think it is a DAS problem. I have 12v at the injectors and the engine will start and run if ether is sprayed in the throtle body. Can the DAS be reset with out a Star computer? Will getting a new key from the dealer get the car running so I can drive it to the indie and have the DAS reset?

The E420 210 chassis is a hell of a car but kind of an oddball.

To start with I want to know the production date or at least month.
Up to 5/96 they were DAS 2a. Starting 6/96 they were DAS X.
Only the DAS 2a cars would even have the blinking red and green lights, so if it is DAS X (6/96 or newer), you wouldn't have the blinking lights so you might have a DAS problem like you say. I just hate to see parts like a crank sensor and fuel pressure regulator thrown at a car like that, yeeesh. But yeah there is a possiblity a new key might fix it, it has a transponder in the key. BUT HEY there is also an antenna ring around the ignition lock, I know they also fail, and a DAS module and wiring and..........you get the point, figure out the problem. As I like to say, you can fix a car using the shotgun approach but the ammo is pretty expensive.

I assume you do not have a second key you can try??? That would be free to try. Free is always good.

PS never heard of "resetting" DAS, either it works or it don't.

PPS there is a black (I think it is black anyways) label in the drivers door jamb that will list the month and year of production, should be on the body part, not on the door, sort of near the latch striker. Will be in one corner of the label, just real simple like "9/96" or whenever it was made.

Here, found image of sort of what the decal i am talking about looks like, see where it says "07/93", that's what I want:

Also want to point out that main reason I am confused is you are mentioning the alternating red/green lights, which only the DAS 2a cars did. The only DAS 2a Mercedes actually was the E420, but ONLY 1/96, to 5/96, so really rare. I know you said yours is a 97, I don't know when they would have done the actual changeover from 1996 to 1997, sometimes of course they bump up the next model year early, like all manufacturers do sometimes. So i don't know why you mentioned the red and green lights. Just want to know for sure what the car has for DAS.

At any rate with either DAS2a or DAS X the result (for an unauthorized start) is no fuel injection, so you may be on to something, I just don't want it to seem like DAS is absolutely to blame and spend money trying to fix a DAS problem that doesn't exist.
