noises

i just searched the forums to find out about this problem. many questions no answers there.

there is a clicking noise behind the glove box on the '84 190E. doesn't matter what the settings are for the climate control there is just a clicking sound back there. what is the problem??? how do i fix it?? i don't have the $$$ for the manual that is next month.

also when i get in the car there is a low growling noise that seems to originate from the right rear quarter panel. it is there when the key is out of the ingniton or in the ignition. this noise is there when i get in in the morning or anytime the car has been sitting. haven't been able to track it down. sounds like a motor or something.

any ideas?

thanks in advance
vincent

Is there clicking with the A/C pushbutton in the off position? Try moving the A/C temp wheel to different positions, if the "clicking" changes OR goes away for a while then you have a problem with the feed back resistor mounted to the A/C blend air door. When this "resisror" goes bad it allows the A/C vacuum control valves behind the glovebox to click on & off.

the clicking happens when the system is off on or whatever. i don't think the a/c is working in this car. we just bought it and haven't had to use it yet. we just get the clicking usually in the morning.
