A/C Compressor 190E 88, locked up

I have a compressor from a 1991 190E and I would like to install it in to my 88 190E and recharge with R12, the compressor is a 10PA15C.
I have the condenser, expansion valve and evaporator also from the 91.
Up on inspecting the open ports on these items it looks like the system was never used, the oil I drained out of the compressor looked like new.
would the 91 be a R134 car or R12 and does it matter to the compressor.
Chuck

I'm pretty sure the change took place after 92. Either way it is the same compressor. Just make sure you flush the oil and add your own.
